Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Manabu Chikumoto) has decided to withdraw from the PET bottle business as follows.

1.Background to the decision

Our PET bottle business offers an array of products to meet various needs related mainly to the packaging of condiments and alcoholic beverages. However, the business is experiencing significant pressure on its profitability from the recent sharp rise in raw material and logistics costs. Despite our efforts to shore up the business by reducing fixed costs and other means, we have decided to withdraw from the business after careful examination of the surrounding environment, on the ground that prospects for future improvement in profitability and growth are slim.

Business: Production and sales of PET bottles

Plants:

Kanto Plant                     Hiratsuka (1-35, Nishishindo 2-chome, Hiratsuka-shi, Kanagawa)

Central Japan Plant       Azai (1700, Ochi-cho, Nagahama-shi, Shiga)

3.Withdrawal schedule (Plan)

December 31, 2025       End of production

March 31, 2026               End of sales
