The third edition of Milano Unica, the textile event featuring the finest Italian and European collections, is scheduled for September 12-15, 2006 at Fieramilanocity in Pavilions 1-2-3-4-5-6 (ex 14-15 - 16) of the Portello.

Paolo Zegna, President of Milano Unica, made the announcement during a press conference which took place at Teatro Strehler in Milan.

The Presidents of the five associated trade fairs which make up Milano Unica were also present: Silvio Albini, President of Shirt Avenue, Max Dubini, President of Moda In, Pier Luigi Loro Piana, President of Ideabiella, Riccardo Marini, President of Prato Expo, Beppe Pisani, President of Ideacomo.

Despite various negative predictions, the textile industry, together with the clothing-fashion sector, has demonstrated over the past year that they are capable of maintaining their rank in the mid-upper market range. This is due mainly to the continuous reinforcement of Made in Italy 'nonprice' factors, attained by a considerable number of firms in the sector, and also to increased ability in forming an integrated network.

Final figures from the first two editions have surpassed all expectations. Fair attendance topped 30,000 for the second edition, with 15 percent more firms participating: over 5000 foreign, mainly from developing countries like India, Brazil, China, Eastern Europe.

In addition, returns of operators from important markets like Japan, the United States, Korea and Hong Kong. But moreover, an increase in European buyers from Spain (+34%), Germany (+35%) and Great Britain (+26%).
